Internal Conflict

As all of the pillars interrelate, conflict between them can occur.  For example, it might be an inclination of one’s spiritual practice to act humbly but fear of not being recognized for one’s achievements might cause a prideful demeanor to develop.  Internal conflict is the pillar that we are addressing as we resolve these imbalances.  An instance such as this one may be addressed by which ideal is more highly valued by the individual.

Moral and social expectations often form for the individual a set of beliefs that counter human impulse.   The complexity of this facet has driven the creation of numerous intriguing characters in art, literature and theatre.  The way an individual deals with internal conflict dictates to various degrees their personal development and in many cases their need for such pillars as Performance in their everyday life.
